Automatically Target Advanced Form Contacts

What is it & why you need it

You can use the automation workflow builder to target users that submit any contact advanced forms on your platform. This means, sending very personalized campaigns based on user input on specific fields.

You can set up various workflows and accomplish tasks such as sending an email, adding or removing tags, or use if-else action to set up more complex conditions and target audience based on their exact form field inputs.

This will help to automate followups, precisely target form responses, and ultimately improve conversions.

How to get started using it

In this section, you’ll see how to use the new trigger within the automation workflow builder to target responses from any particular contact type advanced form.

Step 1

First, create your advanced form. You can create a new one from Marketing & Contacts -> Advanced Forms & Contacts.

Note that only contact type forms can be selected during the automation workflow. So, ensure you select Contact Form when setting up the form.

You can move to step 2 after creating a new form, or if you already have an existing one set up.

Step 2

Go to Marketing & Contacts -> Automation Workflows; and create a new automation.

Or, you can use an existing one if needed. Click the Edit Workflow option.

Step 3

Inside the workflow builder, first add a trigger and choose “Someone submit an advanced contact form”.

Here, select the advanced form for which you want to trigger the workflow, and add the trigger.

With the form added as the trigger, you can now add actions and set up your workflow however you like. You can send an email, add or remove tags, use if-else conditional steps for precise targeting, etc.

If-Else Condition with Advanced Form

The If-Else action in particular lets you use specific form fields and set up very personalized conditions.

First, select the Advanced Form Submit from the dropdown on the left.

And from the right dropdown, select the form you chose as the trigger. Or, you can even select a different form for deeper targeting.

Right after selecting the form, you’ll see all the form fields appear altogether. For all the field types, you can apply four conditions:

image

1. Equals — Checks whether the user’s input exactly matches the value you enter. If it matches, the condition is true.

2. Not Equals — Checks whether the user’s input is different from the value you enter. If it does not match, the condition is true.

3. Contains — Checks whether the user’s input includes the value you enter. If it contains the value, the condition is true.

4. Does Not Contain — Checks whether the user’s input does not include the value you enter. If the value is not found in the input, the condition is true.

For certain fields, such as single and multiple choice fields, you do not need to enter a value manually. Rather, you can choose from a dropdown option. The options appear how you set the field options during the advanced form creation.

You can add multiple segments or branches to create more advanced conditions. When using If-Else, it is important to note that the field conditions have AND logic between them by default i.e. all set conditions must be true. If one is false, then the entire segment is false. You can change it to OR logic which makes the entire segment true even if only one condition is true.

image

After adding the action, you can then select Yes or No; ‘yes’ triggers when the set condition is passed/true and ‘no’ triggers in case the condition fails. This ultimately gives you an opportunity to target users both ways.

You can send an email, set more if-else conditions, and do any other actions available to make your workflows more complex and personalized.
