Soft & Permanent Student Deletion

What is it or why you need it

Managing your students on the EzyCourse platform is very easy and straightforward. You can view their enrollments, course progress, manage their assessments, and more.

You also could delete any student and remove them entirely from your platform. But sometimes, you might want to keep the data related to the student. In other words, you might want to temporarily delete a student while having access to all their info.

Now, you can do that using the soft delete option. This will give you the option to remove them or make them inactive, while having the luxury of reactivating them any time without losing any critical data.

How it works

There was only the option to delete a student permanently. Now, as an admin, you will have the option to either permanently delete the student or temporarily remove. In other words, soft delete a student or simply make them inactive.

Soft deleting a student will mean you still have access to their information and can activate their account any time. While permanent delete removes the student completely from your platform.

In case of soft deleting, the student’s access to their dashboard will be removed i.e. they cannot sign in to your platform with their credentials. If you reactivate a student, they’ll get back the access and everything will be as it was. That is, all their enrolled courses and different products will be available to them as it was before soft deletion.

[Note: If a student deletes their own account from their dashboard, then it will be counted as soft deletion.]

How to get started using it

To delete a student, log in to your EzyCourse dashboard and navigate to Users -> Students.

Choose a student, click the three dots, and select the Delete option.

On the pop-up, you’ll see the option to permanently delete or soft delete the student.

To see the students that you’ve soft deleted, click the active users filter field and choose the Deleted by site owner/site admin option. Here, you’ll see all the soft deleted students and can view all their details exactly like before.

To permanently delete a soft deleted student, click the three dots and select the Delete option. Then on the popup, select the permanent delete option and click the Delete button.

[Note: Permanently deleted accounts cannot be recovered.]

To reactivate, click the three dots and select Active Deleted Account option and then Active Account option on the confirmation popup.

When Students Delete

On the student-end, students can delete their own account from their dashboard on the Profile menu.

From here, they can scroll down to find the Delete Account section. Clicking the Send verification code button will send the student a verification code to their email address.

The email address where the code will be sent to is also found on the student’s profile.

After the student provides the verification code, they can simply click the Delete Account button to remove their account from your platform. You will be notified about the student account deletion through an email sent to your mail address.

Students deleting their own account from their dashboard will count as a soft delete i.e. you can reactivate and access their info from the admin dashboard. To see such deleted accounts, go to Users -> Students -> click the filter field and choose the Deleted by users option.
