Allow editing or deleting an assignment submission
What is it & why you need it
By default, students may need to make changes to an assignment after submitting it. With Allow editing or deleting a submission, you can give students the flexibility to edit their submitted work or delete it and submit again.
Students can make changes to their submission until you review the assignment. Once the submission has been reviewed, they can no longer edit or delete it.
This is useful when:
• A student notices a mistake after submitting an assignment.
• A student uploads the wrong file or submits incorrect information.
• A student wants to improve or update their submission before it is reviewed.
• You want to give students more flexibility without allowing changes after grading or reviewing.
This setting helps students correct mistakes while ensuring that submitted work remains unchanged once you have reviewed it.
How to get started using it
To allow students to edit or delete their assignment submissions:
1. Go to Courses -> All Courses and open the course containing the assignment. You can create a new Assignment lesson or edit an existing one.

2. Find the Allow editing or deleting a submission setting. Enable it.

3. Save or update the lesson.
Once enabled, students can edit or delete their submission even after submitting it, as long as you have not reviewed the submission yet.
Students can edit both the text submission and the uploaded file.

After you review the assignment, the student's submission becomes locked and can no longer be edited or deleted.
